This course will cover the issues related to design and construction of laboratories, especially
concentrating on the detailed design of walls and ceilings and the associated penetration.
Different construction materials will be addressed, such as:
- Stud walls with double fire rated plaster board
- Sandwich panel systems
- Stainless steel panel systems
- Glass wall systems
- Solid concrete on block walls
- Level of detail
- Pressure testing
- Penetrations
- Cooling
Also covered will be the impact of high negative pressures and corrosive decontamination gasses.
Verification of containment will be discussed in detail.
Course participants: This course is suitable for engineers and architects involved in facility
design and construction and laboratory facility managers.
This course is currently not scheduled to run individually, but will be run as part of our Biocontainment Facilities - Design & Construction Workshop in Adelaide in March 2012.
